For a better environment, RHB to plant one lakh trees!

Jaipur: At a time when the global warming and continuous deforestation has marred the global community, Rajasthan Housing Board is setting a fine example by planting a whopping one lakh plants and trees across its projects in the state.

The plantation campaign will start from June 21, which will also mark a first of its kind effort, in the Board history. This historic direction has been given by UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal in tune with the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Informing about the campaign, Commissioner RHB, Pawan Arora said, “Along with unique plants from across the nation, trees such as Neem, Gulmohar, Arjun, Banyan, Bottle Brush, Tikoma, Erithrena, Mango, Mullberry, Lemon and various others will be plants.

Moreover, to ensure that these plants have a good survivability, the Board will plant only those trees that are between ten to fifteen feet in height. Apart from this, for beautification and bettering the environment, herbs and shrubs that are native to Rajasthan will also be planted.”

Arora said that the city park being developed in Mansarover Scheme will boast of twenty thousand plants and trees. “One part of this park will be dedicated to developing an Oxyhub where trees that produce more oxygen like Neema and Banyan, will be planted.

Moreover, for the weekend home scheme at Nayla, Board will develop orchards where fruit trees like Mango, Lemon, Mullberry and Java plums, amongst others, will be planted so that people can enjoy these fruits while enjoying the shade these trees offer,” he said.

Interestingly, the Board will also develop a ‘Gandhi Vatika’ at MGD Weekend Home at Nayla according to the vision of the Chief Minister where flowering and fruiting plants and trees will be planted.

The Board Commissioner has directed officials to complete the tender process for purchase of plants by June 30 for timely completion of the campaign.
