"Fooled people of Bihar...": BJP leader Rajyavardhan Rathore on caste census

Jaipur: Reacting to the newly released caste census in Bihar, BJP leader Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Saturday said that people of the state have been fooled by the Nitish Kumar government with this survey.

Rathore claimed that many videos are surfacing from the state where people are mentioning that no government official came to their houses for the census exercise.

Speaking to ANI, Rajyavardhan Rathore said, "They have fooled people of Bihar. They are talking about the census. Many videos are coming from Bihar in which people are saying that they (Bihar government officials) did not visit their homes. They only did the paperwork."

Reacting to the announcement made by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot that caste-based census will be conducted in Rajasthan, Rathore said, "When will they (Rajasthan government) conduct the census? Model code of conduct may be implemented in two days. He has not done any work. All he does is always try to save his own chair."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced that the state will conduct a caste-based census like done in Bihar. Gehlot spoke to the media after a state party meeting in Jaipur on Friday.
"Rajasthan government will also conduct a caste census like Bihar. There should be participation of the people in the system as per their population. Instructions will be given to conducting caste-based census on the lines of Bihar," CM Gehlot said.

Asserting the importance of a Caste-based census, Ashok Gehlot said, "When we talk about social security, it can be implemented only when we know what the situation is caste-wise. There are different castes living in the country who do different jobs, when we know how much population each caste has, then we can make special schemes for them."

Rajasthan is one of the five states to go to polls later this year. In the 2018 State Assembly elections, the Congress Party won the polls by winning 100 seats and Ashok Gehlot became the Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

Earlier the report of the caste-based survey conducted in Bihar was released on October 2 by the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan government. The Congress is an ally of the government in Bihar.
The Bihar government released caste survey data showing that the Other Backward Class (OBC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) together account for 63 per cent of the state's population.
