Finally, govt ‘shock proofs’ Vidyut Bhawan!

Jaipur: Bhajan Lal government has finally taken notice of Vidyut Bhawan as the process of filling up 15 important vacant posts has been started. On Friday, the Energy Department issued a notice for recruitment for these posts and sought applications from eligible candidates.

It is worth mentioning that First India published a news story on June 30, titled, ‘Non-appointment of officials in crucial posts gives daily shocks at Vidyut Bhawan.’ It was the effect of this news that the government’s attention was drawn to this important and serious issue.

The 15 posts for which applications have been sought are, CMD, Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL), MD - Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL), MD - Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, and Technical Director in 6 companies (or corporations), Finance Director in four and Director Operations and Director Project in one each. Notably, August 2 is the last date for submission of applications.

It is worth mentioning that these posts have been lying vacant for the last 6 to 3 months and the work is being carried out half-heartedly based on additional charge. In this sequence, the situation had become so illogical and impractical that once in between, Chairman, Discoms, Bhanu Prakash Yeturu, was given an additional charge of 6 posts. Those who know, can understand, how much justice Yeturu of the 2003 batch, would have been able to do to these additional charges. Another notable fact is that when this government appointed IAS as MD in Jaipur and Jodhpur Discoms in January, Ajmer Discom was left vacant. Now, a technical MD is being appointed in place of an IAS here.
