Festive cheer: ECI nod to DA hike & Diwali bonus to govt workers

Jaipur: The Election Commission has given its approval for Diwali bonus and increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) of government employees by 4 per cent. The DA has been increased from 42 to 46 per cent which will benefit 8 lakh serving employees and 4.5 lakh pensioners. Similarly, for a maximum salary of Rs 7000, a Diwali bonus of Rs 6774, equivalent to 30 days of salary, will be given to government employees. The Finance Department is likely to issue orders in this regard today.

Notably, following the announcement of DA hike of 4 per cent by the Union government, the State government had also sent a proposal to the Election Commission to increase the DA of the state employees. The Election Commission has given its nod and now the Finance Department will issue an order regarding this.
