Fate of 266 candidates SEALED ON 25 SEATS
Jaipur: In the great festival of democracy i.e. polling that happened on Friday, enthusiasm was seen from young to old. Amidst the scorching heat in the state, voters went to the booths and cast their votes.
This excitement was visible in kekri when a groom reached the allotted booth to vote before he left with his wedding procession! A similar incident occurred when a bride and groom, in their complete wedding regalia, arrived in a tractor to cast their vote.
At Asind, four generations of a family exercised their franchise in Barsani village. All the family members voted at booth number 172 wherein a 101 year old woman Jamku Devi Regar voted with her son, grandson and great granddaughter.
Another ‘centurian’ - 101 year old Soni Devi from Pindwara - cast her vote at Lotana Government Primary School while 86 year old saint Santeshwar Maharaj voted for the first time in Jodhpur. He said that he lived away from politics and elections all his life but this time he felt like voting and thus he cast his vote for the first time in life. Meanwhile, at Bhilwara, an elderly woman - Kailashi - reached the polling booth in an ambulance. 75 year old Kailashi Baheti understood the importance of voting and even though she is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
