Farmers write to Gehlot, Dhariwal; meet on Sept 15

Jaipur: About 200 farmers affected by the Southern Ring Road project are pleading for land compensation from the Government. The farmers have given a memorandum to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal. Due to this, a meeting has been scheduled on September 15 under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary UDH Kunji Lal Meena.

Jaipur Development Authority issued notification of land acquisition in the year 2005 for about 47 km long Southern Ring Road project. From Ajmer to Tonk Road, the JDA had acquired the land of the farmers with a width of 360 meters. The farmers launched a long agitation against the acquisition. Many farmers who did not present an option to the JDA to take the developed land as compensation due to the agitation.
