EXECUTIVES WALK OUT LIKE OPPOSITION

Jaipur: Ugly scenes were witnessed in the GBM of Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater (JMCG) in which a motion to censure the commissioner was moved, prompting the commissioner and other officers and employees to boycott the meeting. Five proposals were to be discussed in the meeting chaired by the Mayor Dr Somya but amid din and uproar, only two could be passed. The meeting was held after 444 days.

Scuffle also broke out between the councillors of BJP and Congress and the meeting was adjourned thrice. A censure motion was brought against the Commissioner on which there was a confrontation between the officials of the corporation and the public representatives. All the officers and employees, including the commissioner, boycotted the meeting and left.

The motion was moved on behalf of Jitendra Shrimali against the Commissioner Yagyamitra Singh Deo. In response, the commissioner opposed and signaled all the officersemployees to walk out of the house. Half of the Congress councillors also boycotted the house in support of the commissioner. However, half the Congress councillors and BJP councillors unanimously passed the motion.

Till now, the opposition’s boycott has been witnessed but this is the first time that the officials have boycotted the House. Speaking to the media, Commissioner said that many councillors made personal allegations against various officers. Referring to Rules, he said that no member can make any allegation on a person or officer.

He said that the matter which is subjudice also cannot be discussed in any way. On the other hand, Mayor Dr Somya said that it was not proper for Deo to leave the house. The meeting will resume tomorrow
