EXCISE DEPT TO COLLECT Rs 1K CR DUES BY SEPT 30

Jaipur: The Excise department has started a campaign for recovery of outstanding dues. The Special campaign will be run till September 30. Excise Commissioner Kumar Pal Gautam gave instructions to all the officers in this regard after the First India took up the matter prominently.

An amount of Rs 1076.45 crore is outstanding in 2,842 cases of the financial year 2021-22. At the same time, Rs 256.40 crore is outstanding in 2191 cases till 31 March 2021. Instructions have been given for recovery of maximum revenue against old arrears in the campaign. “Properties of defaulters have been identified through SDRI. Now these properties will be auctioned by attaching them under the Land Revenue Act 1956,” said the Commissioner. Notably, in the last 4 months, the department has been able to recover only about Rs 44 crores. An amount of Rs 1048 crores is still pending, whereas in the financial year 2021-22, the state government had given a revenue target of Rs 13500 crore to the Excise Department. And now to overcome the due, the department has launched a campaign to recover this.
