Excise Dept serves notices to 2112 defaulter licensees

Jaipur: The Excise Department has given the deadline of July 5 to 2112 licencees of the state who have not deposited the arrears of the guarantee amount in the first quarter of financial year. Licencees have outstanding dues of more than Rs 52 crore in first quarter. Jaipur alone has an outstanding of Rs 7 crore, out of which Punjab Wines alone owes Rs 4.75 cr.

Situation is also not clear about names and addresses of some of defaulters, in such a situation, if some of these licencees are left, recovery of dues will become difficult. In first quarter for financial year 2022-23, a target of Rs 2191 cr was set as a guarantee amount, in contrast to this, dept made Rs 2369 cr. But the truth behind this record is shocking. 5481 liquor licencees have deposited more guarantee target. These licencees helped department.
