Excise Dept begins punishing non-performers!

Jaipur: Officers and Circle Inspectors are going to be punished at the district level in the Excise Department after the failure of the excise settlement. Action can be taken against them like putting on APO and giving chargesheet.

On Tuesday, in a stern action against non-performers, an excise officer from Tonk, Anil Yadav was put on APO. He was replaced by Bhanwari Lal Meena from Sawai Madhopur.

Excise Commissioner Chetan Deora issued the order. The figures of performance audit conducted at Finance Dept level are shocking.

There are only four districts with more than 50 % achievement in liquor shops renewal, while 14 are below 30 %. A provision was made for renewal this time in state’s New Excise Policy but licensees opposed it. Thus, out of total 7,665 shops, only 2,501 shops could be renewed. The Excise department is incurring a loss of about Rs 30 to 40 crore daily. There is a partial dry day situation in Raj since April 1.

Hence, the Excise Dept has issued a release for auction of shops on April 8, 11 & 12. Principal Secretary Finance Akhil Arora & Excise Commissioner Chetan Deora have interacted with officers via VC.
