EASTERN RAJASTHAN WILL GET THE GIFT OF ERCP IN NEW YEAR

Jaipur: The work of making the long-running Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) a National Project is starting in the State. The Central Government is working on its new model. Under this new model, ERCP is now being considered to be taken forward by including it in the ‘River Linking Project.’ With this model, ERCP will get the status of a ‘National Project’ and 90 percent of the money will be given by the Central Government.

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has confirmed to take forward ERCP through the ‘River Linking Project.’ An important meeting was held in the Ministry of Jal Shakti in Delhi on Wednesday to give the status of a ‘National Project’ to ERCP on the model of ‘River Linking Project’ wherein, the senior officials of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh participated. After discussion on the revised draft MoU of ERCP in the meeting, an agreement has been reached between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Now, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav will meet and prepare the final outline. After this, the final MoU regarding ERCP will be signed.

Efforts have been made to resolve the dispute between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and both states will now discuss at the government level regarding the instructions received in the meeting. Now both states will prepare a revised DPR in the next meeting and the MoU may be signed in the first week of January for which the Chief Ministers of both states will reach Delhi. Notably, in achieving this feat, the role of Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is considered important.
