Dr Kirodi ends ERCP stir after Govt agrees to resolve issue

Jaipur: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena on Tuesday ended the ‘Jal Kranti Yatra’ after talks with the State Government representatives. The MP demanded the state government to remove “technical flaws” in the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). Government’s representative Minister Vishvendra Singh, after talking to the Chief Minister, accepted that the a highlevel technical team of Rajasthan Government will meet the officials of the Central Water Commission and Ministry of Jal Shakti to discuss over the technical objections raised by the Commission and the Madhya Pradesh State Government on the implementation of ERCP scheme and efforts will be made to remove the technical objections raised.

The committee will have two members each from the BJP and the Congress, who will be nominated by their party. Meena on Tuesday began a vehicle rally with his supporters from Dausa to Jaipur, demanding that the state government remove “technical flaws” in the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project. The rally started from Nangalpyarias in Dausa and stopped near Jatwara in Jaipur District where State Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh and senior officials reached for talks. Meena said, “Chief Minister Gehlot had earlier written to the Madhya Pradesh government for a non-objection certificate for the project, which was not given.” However, Gehlot on Tuesday said the consent of the MP Govt was not required for the project, citing a decision of an interstate board way back in 2005.
