DGGI uncovers embezzlement of Rs 5.08 cr in Marudhar Calcium Co.

Jaipur: The Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) uncovered a major embezzlement case in Bikaner, where a company exploited the Goods and Services Tax (GST) law to the tune of Rs 5.08 crore through fake bills.

Marudhar Calcium Pvt. Ltd came under scrutiny as it was suspected of misusing Input Tax Credit (ITC) by falsely claiming the supply of goods without actual transactions. DGGI officials conducted a raid on the company’s Palana plant and the residences of key operators and suppliers involved in providing bogus bills. With the help of officials of CGST Jodhpur Commissionerate, the premises of the company’s directors Om Prakash Karnani, Mahendra Kumar Maheshwari-Gattani and Ritesh Raj Karnani and SPR Enterprises, which provided bogus bills to this company, and its director Sunderlal Panchariya were raided. During the action, those involved in the scam admitted their wrongdoing and promptly returned approximately Rs 1.50 crore in ITC on the spot. The investigation revealed that Marudhar Calcium Pvt. Ltd. had falsely represented the use of furnace oil in its boiler through fabricated bills, exploiting ITC benefits.
