DGGI officials accused of assault during raids
Jaipur: The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) officials have been accused of harassing and manhandling staff of a jewellery showroom in Sikar during a raid. The showroom owner Ram K Soni has filed a petition against the accused officials in the high court. A team of DGGI had conducted raids on two showrooms and residence of Soni in Sikar on August 2 and 3 last year. The petitioner alleged that the officers harassed and manhandled his employees and extorted Rs 20 lakh.
Soni has made the Central Board of Indirect Taxes, GoI, Secy of Revenue Department of the GoI, Additional Director General DGGI Jaipur Regional Unit and the Chief Secy of the Govt of Rajasthan parties in matter. The court has considered the matter serious and Acting Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava and Justice Shubha Mehta asked the petitioner to submit two copies of the CD containing visuals of the assault in the court in a sealed cover.
The court has also Instructed the concerned parties to submit their reply within a week. The next hearing of the case will be on February 19.
