Deadlock continues over Health Bill post 2-hr meet

Jaipur: The Medical cadre is angry over the proposed Right to Health Bill leading to heated arguments in the meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Medical, T Ravikant on Wednesday. There was tension between senior officers and medical representatives in the two-hour meeting, held at the Swasthya Bhavan.

Medical representatives remained adamant on defining “emergency” in the meeting. The doctors also gave suggestions regarding the Authority at the state and district level. After the meeting, Health Secretary Dr Prithvi said that there has been discussion with the doctors. He said that their suggestions will be presented before the select committee. However, he remained silent on the deadlock over the points of the Bill.

In the meeting which lasted for about two hours, the atmosphere heated up many times and then the doctors demanded that action should be taken against the officials who caused the contradictions in the bill.
