CS Sudhansh Pant leads by example: Manages major campaigns, delegates execution to ACS Abhay Kumar

Jaipur: The Modi government’s two flagship campaigns - ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga,’ are being implemented in Rajasthan with full vigour and effect. The important thing is that CS Sudhansh Pant himself has taken the command in his hands. In this sequence, CS has held several meetings and VCs with top officers and District Collectors.

Even on Thursday, August 8, when all the District-in-charge Secretaries were in the field in their respective districts, CS had serious discussions and consultations with them through VC to make these campaigns successful by involving everyone. Now on Sunday, August 11, when he will do SOM with all the senior officers on a holiday, an important agenda has been kept in it to discuss ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and the plantation campaign under ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’. CS’s special interest in the campaigns is also evident from the direction he gave to all the women officers to wear ‘Leheriya’ on the day of ‘Hariyali Teej’ and participate in tree plantation programmes.

But one thing has become a topic of discussion in the bureaucracy; that the CS has handed over the responsibility of successful implementation of these campaigns to ACS Abhay Kumar. Basically, tree plantation and ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ are the subjects of the Forest Department.

Similarly, ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is also the responsibility of the Art and Culture Department. But leaving these two departments aside, the responsibility has been handed over to Abhay Kumar, whereas, Abhay Kumar is the ACS of Water Resources, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Departments and both the aforementioned campaigns have nothing to do with his departments.

Informed officials reveal that the responsibility of both the campaigns, which are so important and involve a lot of people, has been handed over to Abhay Kumar keeping in mind his efficiency, hard work, and experience of governance. Moreover, he is also the most senior figure in the civil list after the Chief Secretary. Therefore, leaving aside other officers, the government has trusted him.

Senior officers say that Abhay Kumar is working day and night to fulfil the responsibility entrusted to him with full dedication and honesty. However, he already bears the responsibility of a major project like the ERCP within his department.
