Crunch of officials in Transport dept

Jaipur: The functioning of the Department of Transport has been derailed due to scarcity of officials in the department. Neither the department can achieve its set target of revenue collection for the year 2022-23 nor it is able to do work for the common public. Officials informed that the transport department was given a revenue target of Rs 7,000 crores in the present financial year, but due to very fewer number of officials, the department is facing an uphill task to achieve its target.

Nearly more than a dozen posts of District Transport Officers (RTOs) are lying vacant while about 200 posts of transport sub-inspectors are also lying vacant. President of Rajasthan Transport Service Council, Nanu Ram Choyal, said that the transport Department has sent a proposal to RPSC and demanded to fill the vacant posts of District Transport Officers. “The government should fill the posts of DTOs at the earliest so that the work of the department can be done in a better way,” said Nanu Ram Choyal.
