Controversy or not, Samit won’t let go of his ‘disciplinarian approach’ to work!
Jaipur: Senior IAS Samit Sharma, as an officer, holds discipline and commitment to rules and regulations and does not accept any lacunae or lackadaisical attitude in this regard. Recently, he cracked the ‘disciplinary whip’ on two officers of the Social Justice Department. One of these officers is Additional Director Suwa Lal Pahadia and the other is ASO in Secretariat Abhimanyu Sharma.
Last week, in a meeting chaired by Minister Tikaram Jully, Suwa Lal lost his cool and started shouting on top of his voice. This did not go down well with Secretary Samit Sharma and he not only suspended him immediately, but also sent him to HQ in Bikaner. Suwa Lal is a leader of the Officers’ Union.
Similarly, few days back, Samit Sharma taught a lesson in discipline to department’s ASO Abhimanyu Sharma. There were complaints against Abhimanyu like misbehaviour with officers, not coming to office and marking his daily attendance from his home. Even when Samit Sharma called him, Abhimanyu did not behave with Samit in a manner befitting an officer. Thus, Samit Sharma took a swift action and filed a fifty page chargesheet and forwarded it to Department of Personnel. Moreover, a video of Abhimanyu misbehaving with Secretary have also been made part of the chargesheet. This action has become a ‘talk of the town’ within the State bureaucracy.
Interestingly, in each of his postings, Samit Sharma courts controversies as a result of his stern actions. He installs glass panels on the windows and doors of his office so that transparency is ensured in his work and his this work style is unique.
