Constable beaten for demanding Rs 50,000 ransom in Kanota

Jaipur: A police constable was beaten in the Kanota area by people for allegedly demanding Rs 50,000 as ransom.
Police informed the constable, Shailendra Singh, posted in Gandhi Nagar Police Station, had taken Anmol, a resident of Kho Nagoriyan, into custody.

“Along with two other men, Anmol was taken to areas near the Ring Road. They later called the family members of Anmol and demanded a ransom of Rs. 50,000. Later, when the family members reached the spot, they found that Shailendra Singh was sitting with the two men. The constable was then beaten by the family members of Anmol,” police said.

"Shailendra Singh was rushed to hospital for treatment. The constable is presently in the security of a judicial magistrate and was absent from duty for the last week. Shailendra Singh has been sent to police lines following the incident and the matter is being investigated,” police said.
