Consent of CM Gehlot for granting financial autonomy to legislative assembly, Rajasthan to be the first state to do so

The conference of presiding officers concluded on Thursday in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Reportedly, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has agreed to the request of granting financial autonomy to the Legislative Assembly raised by Assembly Speaker Dr CP Joshi.

In the press conference, Joshi said, “financial autonomy means that once the budget is allocated to the assembly, it is on the speaker to decide where the budget should be spent.”
 
If this happens, Rajasthan will create history by becoming the first State to grant financial autonomy to its Legislative Assembly.
 
As per the reports, Assembly Speaker Dr CP Joshi had put forward the demand, CM Ashok Gehlot did not make any promise on the inauguration but said on the closing occasion that he had accepted the demand of Speaker Dr CP Joshi and also agreed in principle on the issue of financial autonomy.
CM Gehlot said that whenever a proposal comes, it will be considered with positive thinking.
