Congress’ yatra to draw attention on ERCP issue from Oct 16

Jaipur: Congress is set to take out a yatra covering 13 districts to draw attention to the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) issue.

The yatra will commence on Oct 16 from Baran dist with the Navratri festival. CM Ashok Gehlot, in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, state president Govind Singh Dotasara, and senior leaders will participate in this week-long yatra.

ERCP aims to provide drinking and irrigation water to 13 dists and involves construction of dams, canals, and drinking water projects worth over Rs 40,000 crores. Cong has made ERCP a focal point in its election strategy, highlighting the central government’s alleged failure to fulfill its promise regarding the project.

After a meeting on the issue at Congress war room, Gehlot said that the party will go in the polls with the slogan ‘Kaam kiya dil se, Congress fir se.’
