Cong protests over English schools conversion

Jaipur: Amid speculations that the BJP government would convert Mahatma Gandhi English medium government schools to Hindi medium schools, Congress party’s Jaipur unit held a symbolic protest at Jaipur collectorate and said that any such move will be strongly objected to.

The schools were opened during the former Congress rule. The Congress leaders slammed the Bhajanlal government and Education Minister Madan Dilawar over the issue.

Jaipur Dist Congress Committee President RR Tiwari asked whether the children of poor do not have the right to study in English schools.

“Dotasara was the Education Minister during Congress government when more than 3,500 English medium schools were opened. Today more than 7 lakh kids are studying in these schools and more than 10k teachers are employed,” he said.
