Cong protest across Raj highlights unity over Dr Ambedkar’s legacy
Jaipur: Jaipur witnessed a powerful show of unity and determination as Congress leaders and supporters took to the streets on Tuesday in protest against a controversial remark made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr BR Ambedkar. The protest, organized under the banner of the "Ambedkar Samman March," was part of a nationwide demonstration by Congress to honour the legacy of the architect of Indian Constitution and to denounce any attempts to undermine his contributions.
The march in Jaipur began at 11 AM from Bani Park, led by prominent Congress leaders including MLA Amin Kagzi, General Secretary Lalit Tunwal, Jaswant Gurjar, Swarnim Chaturvedi, Har Sahay Yadav, Gopal Meena, Mahendra Khedi, Giriraj Khandelwal, RR Tiwari, and Sushil Asopa. Their presence underscored the party’s strong commitment to Dr Ambedkar’s principles.
The march also saw the participation of Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation’s Leader of Opposition, Rajiv Chaudhary, along with several block and ward presidents. More than half a dozen councillors joined the demonstration, reflecting a widespread mobilization at the grassroots level.
Cong workers carried banners and raised slogans, demanding respect for Dr. Ambedkar's legacy and criticizing the government for what they perceived as attempts to tarnish his image. The event culminated with the submission of a memo to local authorities, marking the end of the peaceful yet impactful protest.
Senior Congress leader Pratap S Khachariyawas also voiced his discontent through social media. In a post, he stated, "In protest against the controversial statement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding Dr Ambedkar, we organized the 'Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Honor March' in Jaipur today."
The protest was not limited to Jaipur; similar marches were held at district headquarters across Rajasthan as part of the Congress Party’s broader campaign to safeguard the dignity and honour of Dr Ambedkar.
