Commanders of Congress and BJP in the battlefield

Jaipur: In keeping with the trend of state Congress President contesting in the Rajasthan assembly elections, this time state president Govind Singh Dotasra in the fray. Congress state presidents play role of commanders in elections but in most of elections, the commanders enter the battlefield. This trend has been going on in Congress since the 2008 elections.

According to election strategists and political experts, there are both advantages and disadvantages of the party president contesting the elections. While the party chief contesting the elections creates enthusiasm among the party workers, the party chief does not focus on the organization while contesting the elections.

If the party loses the elections while being the party president, then the entire party gets disgraced. This is because there have been two Congress presidents who had to face defeat in the assembly elections.
