Jaipur: Colonies settled on agricultural land in urban areas of Rajasthan till 31 December 2021 will now be regularized.

Till now there was no provision for regularizing colonies settled on agricultural land after June 17, 1999. For this purpose, the Rajasthan assembly on Wednesday passed the Rajasthan Land Revenue (Amendment) Bill 2022.

The bill has been passed to amend subsection 8 of section 90-A of the Rajasthan Land Revenue Act in order to increase the cut-off date to regularize colonies.

This will give relief to the people living in cities after 17th June 1999 by building houses on agricultural land. In sub-section 8 of 90-A, there is a provision to change the land use of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes in urban areas before June 17, 1999.

There was no provision to regularize colonies settled after this. Now a provision has been made for regularizing houses built on agricultural land till December 31, 2021.

The provisions of this bill will not be applicable on the leases issued after June 16, 1999. Replying to the debate, Dhariwal said that after June 17, 1999, many constructions took place in the cities, now it was getting difficult to give leases to such people. He said that the people of SC-ST also planned colonies and sold their land to people of other classes.

On those lands, houses and shops were constructed. He said that the bill has been brought so that leases can be given to the colonies developed on agricultural land in urban areas by December 31, 2021.

He informed that the govt will issue 10 lakh leases in cities and there will be no violation of the master plan anywhere. He said that regularization will be done as per the plan.

He also asked the BJP members to not create an unnecessary atmosphere. BJP MLA Ashok Lahoti raised the issue of 20,000 leases in Sanganer.

He said that there are 20,000 leases pending to be given in Sanganer. Dhariwal questioned where those people were till now and leases will be given in the ratio of 70:30 and if the colony is not settled in this ratio, then leases will not be allotted.
