CM ON MISSION ‘23, BUREAUCRATS WILL HAVE TO KEEP PACE: CHANDNA

Jaipur: Sports Minister Ashok Chandna and MLA Krishna Poonia , who is Sports Council President, visited the SMS Stadium on Saturday to take stock of preparations of the indoor stadium. CM Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate the stadium today. Chandna said it is a privilege for them that the Chief Minister would be there.

In a free-wheeling interview with First India after the Twitter controversy over bureaucratic interference, Chandna talks about the CM’s zealous approach to take the government’s schemes to the people and how bureaucrats will have to work at a break-neck speed to keep pace.

What pained you regarding bureaucracy?

Chandna: There are many good officers in the bureaucracy like Akhil Arora, Abhay Kumar and Bhaskar Sawant. Though they lack a few things, under Gehlot’s rule, the officers will have to work at a bullet’s speed. The CM has opened the state’s coffers for the public. In such a situation, if leaders, bureaucrats and employees do not work with speed and accuracy, we will not be able to take schemes to the public.

How do you think the CM would deal with bureaucracy?

Chandna: I posted two Tweets which included everything. Gehlot is busy providing facilities to the players of Rajeev Gandhi Grameen Olympics. If any officer becomes a dictator or tries to create obstacles in his agenda, the CM won’t let that happen. He will not let anyone hinder Mission 2023.

How was your meeting with the CM?

Chandna: No matter should be that important as long as it is for or against the interest of the public. Small things keep happening in big systems. This happened before and will continue to happen in future as well. Although some things are clear from such incidents, the way forward is also decided. It’s not an issue to demean someone.

Is there any rift between you and Poonia over tender?

Chandna: I do not have even one percent dispute with Krishna Poonia. We are working together here. This is a controversy created by the media.

Is all is well in the sports council?

Chandna: There was never anything wrong. Everyone has to do their own work. Those who have the post, their work is prescribed. A person is assessed on the basis of the position and work. One person cannot enter the jurisdiction of another.

CM says that there is pressure on you? Do you actually feel so?

Chandna: I have never felt pressure of any kind to date. You may call responsibility a burden. But I will never have any problem in fulfilling the responsibilities. I might have tweeted anything but the CM has full faith in me.
