CM: Govt working to promote sports talents in rural areas
Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma while addressing a pre-budget discussion on Youth and Sports at the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday, said that the State Government has plans including to establish a sports university and developing sports facilities and hostels at district and divisional levels. Additionally, the government is considering organising the ‘Khelo Rajasthan Youth Games,’ modelled after the ‘Khelo India Games.’
Sharma spoke to sports talents, coaches, sports organisation representatives, young entrepreneurs, and startup founders. He urged parents to encourage their children to participate in sports alongside their studies.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari praised Sharma’s initiative to gather budget-related suggestions from individuals across various sectors, ensuring effective governance through participatory administration.
Minister for Industries, Youth, and Sports Affairs, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, emphasized the state government’s focus on developing sports infrastructure to provide internationallevel training for athletes. MoS for Youth, & Sports Affairs, KK Vishnoi, lauded Centre’s schemes for creating a positive environment for sports and athletes in the country.
Representatives from organisations like UNICEF, UNFPA, and Kreeda Bharati, along with coaches, Padma Shri, and Arjuna Award-winning athletes, and young entrepreneurs, participated in the discussion. Senior IAS officer P. Narhari from the MP cadre shared his experiences on developing sports infrastructure and training facilities.
