CM GEHLOT SKIPS JODHPUR TOUR, HOLDS LAW & ORDER MEET IN JPR

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday cut short his three-day Jodhpur tour and returned to the state capital to attend the law and order meeting with senior officials, following the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur on June 28.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister informed that the NIA has started the investigation and the State’s Special Operations Group (SOG) and ATS are extending complete support to the probe agency. Officials present in the meet were directed to maintain special vigilance in the areas that are sensitive from communal point of view and were asked to take strict action against anti-social elements. “Police and administrative officers must ensure effective monitoring to maintain peace and harmony in the State. Investigation in the matter must be carried out without any prejudice,” Gehlot said. He also appealed to the public to maintain peace in light of the situation.

To increase community participation, the Peace Committees and CLGs must work effectively with proper coordination, he added. Meanwhile, five State police officers, involved in the quick arrest of Udaipur killing accused, will be given ‘out-of-term’ promotions, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday. “It has been decided to give out-of-term promotion to five policemen — Tejpal, Narendra, Shaukat, Vikas and Gautam — who made quick arrests of the accused involved in the Udaipur incident,” he tweeted.
