CM Gehlot orders early girdawari for immediate relief to farmers

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday instructed officials of the Revenue and Agriculture Dept to get an early assessment of damage caused to crops due to hailstorm and cold wave across State. He said that the work of girdawari is being done at a fast pace by Revenue Dept and State govt will extend all possible help to farmers in this disaster.

Out of the total sown area of 109.55L hectare in January, there are reports of 2 to 65% crop failure in about 14.92L hectare area due to frost and cold wave, said Agriculture minister Lal Chand Kataria in the House on Monday.

All District Collectors are asked to send report of special Girdawari to Disaster Management Dept. LoP Gulab Chand Kataria demanded in House that govt should take steps to provide relief to the affected farmers soon. Dr CP Joshi asked govt to involve public representatives in process of special Girdawari.
