CM corners Centre over GST on food items

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday cornered the Centre over levying Goods and Service Tax (GST) on food items. “In the year of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Modi government has taken the unfortunate decision of levying GST on food items like flour, pulses, rice, jaggery, wheat, bajra, jowar, milk, curd, paneer, buttermilk etc. in retail. For the first time in years, essential food items have been taxed. This is a step to snatch the morsel from the mouth of the poor,” CM Gehlot said.

CM Gehlot attacked Modi govt by adding, “Mandis are being closed across the country in protest against this decision, which shows how much public anger is caused by this move. This antipeople move by the Modi government should be withdrawn immediately,”
