Clout of ‘godfathers’ rules in selection of cricketers

Jaipur: It seems politics and favouritism has marred the Rajasthan cricket off late and three ‘weak link’ players have been ‘adjusted’ in Rajasthan team, all because of the clout of their ‘godfathers’! These days, the selection of three players in the Rajasthan Cricket Association is in discussion. One player was fielded in Rajasthan team while this player did not get a chance to play in Colvin Shield. On the other hand, the players who played the Colvin Shield have failed to make the cut in team Rajasthan. Interestingly, a cabinet minister is reportedly the godfather for this player and the minister has thus ensured a place for the cricketer. Then, the name of an industrialist’s ‘outsider’ player is also in discussion. In the past also this player has tried to play from Rajasthan. but this time, it seems, the efforts will bear fruit. Moreover, a ‘social leader’ is also trying to get his son inducted in the team. So this beckons a question as to on whose behest are the selectors of RCA working?
