Chaturvedi accuses Congress govt over acquittal of accused

Jaipur: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress government over the acquittal of four accused of the Jaipur bomb blast case, former BJP state president Arun Chaturvedi said that the govt was doing appeasement of one section for political reasons.

He said that everyone is a witness to the serial bomb blast case, which was an attack on humanity and people irrespective of their religion were killed or injured in the incident in 2008.

“The HC has said that there was a deficiency in the investigation. When the lower court had given capital punishment to the accused, then how did the verdict get reversed,” he asked.

Chaturvedi said that the government failed to ensure a strong prosecution in the high court due to which the accused were acquitted.

“The Rajasthan govt appoints big lawyers in small matters but why was the prosecution weak in this matter? Not only this, the government sent a junior advocate to the court,” he said.
