CHANDNA, POONIA SPAR OVER OFFICIAL POWERS

Jaipur: After the appointment of Cong MLA Krishna Poonia as the President of Sports Council, a cold war is on between Sports Min Ashok Chandna and former. They, however, publicly deny any controversy. Until now, Sports Dept & Sports Council were completely under umbrella of Min Ashok Chandna, but after Poonia took charge, a rift between the two regarding disposal of files & rights.

Latest one is of June 10, when on instructions of Poonia, Assistant Administrative Officer KK Sharma, an officer of Chandna camp, was sent from Jaipur to Pratapgarh on deputation. Initially, it was said he was going to supervise preparations for Rural Olympic Games, but Sharma had to bid farewell to Jaipur.

He, later, expressed his unwillingness to minister, who instructed Sports Secretary Nareshpal, to reverse order issued by Poonia. He also got Sharma posted in his office, which Poonia thinks is encroachment on rights and is planning to talk to CM Gehlot. Prior to this, rift surfaced when Chandna did not go to Bikaner on CM Gehlot’s visit despite his own department’s programme.
