‘Challans of 91% cases presented in court’

Jaipur: The State Government has chalked out a monitoring system for timely action on FIRs lodged in various police stations in illegal mining, transportation and storage activities in the state. In about 91 per cent of the cases registered in illegal mining activities in the state, challans have been presented in the competent courts, while research work is going on only in a little more than 2 per cent cases.

Dr Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Mines and Petroleum Department, said that for the first time, the departmental monitoring system has been strengthened for quick action on the FIRs lodged by the Mines, Police and Forest Department in the police stations in the state during the illegal mining joint investigation campaign.

Out of 3,256 FIRs registered in the state, challans have been presented in the competent courts by the concerned police stations after completing the research in 2,956 cases. He said that out of 3256 FIRs, investigation is going on only in 82 FIRs, while in only 218 cases FIRs have been lodged by the police.
