CBI RAID ON ARVIND MAYARAM AN ATTEMPT AT FINDING ‘PAST DOINGS’!

Jaipur: The reason behind CBI’s raid on Arvind Mayaram’s establishments in Delhi and Jaipur has come to light and it has been revealed that the matter pertains to the time when Mayaram was Finance secretary in 2014 in the Central government. At that time a scam in a tender of printing 1688 crore currency notes occurred. The matter came to light after Arvind Mayaram retired in October 2015 when an internal enquiry highlighted that there was some difference in the paper, ink and printing tender which was allotted to a foreign firm.

At that time, the then Joint Secretary and CVO of Finance Ministry Raj Kumar had sent notice to Arvind Mayaram and few RBI officials seeking details from them. But when a satisfactory answer could not be given, then Raj Kumar asked for investigation of the matter on February 14, 2017 wherein he wrote about irregularities in awarding the tender for currency printing.

CBI has registered a case against unknown officials of finance ministry and private persons including former finance secretary Arvind Mayaram under several sections for criminal conspiracy, cheating and abuse of official positions.

Now after a long investigation of six years when CBI has finally ascertained that the matter pertains corruption, hence it has conducted raids at Mayaram and RBI officials’ places.
