Can BJP continue its winning streak from this seat?

Jaipur: The Churu Lok Sabha Constituency in Rajasthan emerges as a political microcosm, showcasing the complex interplay of historical legacies, changing demographics, and the evolving electoral landscape.

The constituency, comprising eight Vidhan Sabha constituencies, has been a witness to intriguing developments, setting the stage for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

A General category seat, Churu has been a BJP stronghold since 1999. Ram Singh Kaswan of the BJP won for 3 consecutive terms, followed by his son Rahul Kaswan doing the same for 2 terms now.

Notably, five of Churu’s eight Vidhan Sabha constituencies are held by Congress, which the party is claiming as their path to victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The electoral history of Churu reveals a fascinating transition. Until 1977, the constituency did not exist. Subsequently, the political spectrum witnessed the Janata Party era with Daulat Ram Saran, becoming the first MP followed by Congress and Janata Dal representations.

BJP made a substantial impact from 1991 onwards.

The region displays a literacy rate of 56.83 per cent, reflecting a mix of urban and rural voters.
