Cabinet okays Rajasthan Social and Performance Audit Authority

Jaipur: Several important decisions like formation of Rajasthan Social and Performance Audit Authority, issuing new appointment rules for the dependents of the martyrs, issuing the Rajasthan Handicrafts Policy-2022, operating the Palace on Wheels train under Operation & Maintenance model were taken in a cabinet meeting held on Saturday.

The cabinet also cleared a proposal to add 4 new rules in provision of age relaxation in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in order to give relief to EWS candidates.

In the cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Ashok Gehlot, a proposal to set up ‘Rajasthan Social and Performance Audit Authority’ was cleared.

This decision will ensure transparency, public participation, satisfaction and quality along with accountability in public welfare schemes of the state government.

“The performance of government departments and other agencies implementing schemes will also be assessed. The benefits of schemes will reach the beneficiaries more easily, conveniently and in a time bound manner,” according to a release.

Doctors, engineers, architects, economists, professors, information technology specialists, tax specialists and other experts from different domains will be kept as required in the authority.

The cabinet approved the “Rajasthan Handicrafts Policy-2022”. With this, work will be done for the upliftment of artisans. Several other proposals regarding filling 4,000 posts of LDC by resuming LDC recruitment-2013, running palace on wheels on O&M model to provide more facilities to tourists travelling, relief in compassionate appointment to the dependents of martyr by including his Navasa/ Navasi in dependent category were cleared. Also, if the martyr was unmarried, then his brother and sister or their sons and daughters will be considered for appointment on compassionate grounds.

The Cabinet amended the ‘Rajasthan Out of Turn Appointment to Sports Medal Winners Rules 2017’. With this, the residents of Rajasthan who are officers/employees in any other state or in the Centre will get pay protection in the state for winning medals in sports.

Another proposal for renaming the medical college of Bharatpur after former CM Jagannath Pahadia was also cleared by the cabinet.
