BOGUS RAPE CASES KEEP COPS ON TOES
Jaipur: Gangrape is a heinous crime but a large number of false gangrape cases are being registered in the state. Of the total number of such cases registered in 2021, half were found to be bogus. The officers of the police headquarters were surprised as they spent a lot of time on research and hard work and later found the cases were fake. One of the reasons for an increase in fake gangrape cases is a mandatory FIR and mutual enmity. Instructions have been given to all the SPs and Range IGs to take action against people filing such false cases.
Last year in 2021, 968 gangrape cases were registered in the state, Out of 968, there are 483 cases in which the police have filed FR. Most of the cases were found fake. There are 391 cases in which the police have presented challan. Police is investigating 94 cases. In the registered gangrape cases, police are investigating from both angles. DGP himself is reviewing the cases related to women atrocities.
