BJP struggles with fading Sindhi support, Punjabi divide in Ramgarh
Jaipur: In the Ramgarh Assembly constituency, a significant voter base from the Punjabi and Sikh communities is anticipated, especially in the context of Hindu-Muslim polarization.
Ex-MLA Gyan Dev Ahuja, who has been a key player in the constituency, is being replaced by his nephew due to age considerations. This shift has raised concerns among various factions, particularly as the Sindhi community’s support seems to be waning.
Previous elections saw BJP struggling, with divided Hindu votes leading to their defeat, even resulting in the loss of a security deposit for candidate Jai Ahuja. Sikh candidate Sukwant Singh secured second position, yet internal dissent within the Punjabi community, particularly from leader Devendra Dutt, has hampered the BJP’s efforts.
The BJP must unify support from both the Sikh-Punjabi community, represented by Sukwant and Devendra Dutt, as well as leverage Gyan Dev Ahuja’s influence.
