Ashok Gehlot’s Council of Ministers passes resolution, demands Central govt to withdraw Agnipath scheme

Jaipur: A meeting of the State Council of Ministers was held under the chairmanship of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at the Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday. In the meeting, the Council of Ministers expressed concern over the nationwide protests against the Agnipath scheme of the Central Government.

In the meeting of the State Council of Ministers, it was discussed that the Indian Army is the bravest in the world and is known for its indomitable courage. Whole country takes pride in the Indian Army’s glorious history. To maintain dignity and prestige of the Indian Army, it is necessary to have skill, experience and stability in the forces. To increase efficiency in the Army, it is crucial to have permanent soldiers instead of short-term recruits, so that the country can reap the benefit of their experience. The Army must be equipped with all the resources and must be continuously strengthened.

It was discussed in the meeting that the Central Government recently implemented the Agnipath scheme for recruitment in the Army. There have been massive protests across the country regarding the provisions made in this scheme. This scheme has created many doubts among the youths regarding their future. Due to this, youths are protesting on the roads and railway tracks in many areas of the country. Incidents of vandalism and damage to public property are being reported from many places. Demonstrations are being held in various states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Assam.
