Are govt restrictions not realistic?

Jaipur: The government has banned transfers, stating that transfers can only occur in limited circumstances with prior approval from the Administrative Department (AR). However, the situation appears to be the opposite, as transfers are being conducted in large numbers despite the ban.

Ignoring the restrictions, departments are regularly issuing extensive transfer lists at a rapid pace, even on holidays. On October 13, the Local Self Governance (LSG) department released a transfer list of 176 names. Similarly, the Revenue Board issued lists of 520 and 341 names the previous week. The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj departments also released a transfer list of 116 names.

Before this, nearly 200 transfers occurred within the police department, along with transfers in the Finance, Medical, Forest, PHED, and PWD departments. It is reported that all these transfers have received government approval. Administrative experts are puzzled as to why such a high volume of transfers is happening if they require special approval.

There seems to be a lack of transparency and adherence to rules in these government-approved transfers, which are believed to be influenced by recommendations and arbitrary decisions.

If these transfer lists are prepared in anticipation of Assembly by-elections, the government should consider lifting the transfer ban entirely.
