ACB eyes ‘Sweet Boxes’ during festival season...

Jaipur: Taking and giving expensive gifts on Diwali can prove costly for government employees as action can be taken against them and an FIR may also be filed. This is because the Anti-Corruption Bureau has considered expensive gifts and presents as a form of bribery.

ACB DG Hemant Priyadarshi has instructed all outpost in-charges to keep an eye on expensive gifts given on the occasion of Diwali. There is an old tradition of giving gifts & presents by various enterprises to govt officials during Diwali. Generally speaking, good wishes, gifts and presents given and received in this way are also a part of corruption. In many cases, government officials and employees are given valuable items, travel tickets to tourist destinations, gift vouchers etc. The purpose behind giving such gifts is to fulfil one’s purpose in government work.

In such a situation, ACB will now take action against officers who accept such gifts. ACB will keep an eye not only on the office but also on homes of potential officers and employees.
