87.5L children to receive polio drops
Jaipur: Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, inaugurated the state-level Sub-National Pulse Polio Campaign on Sunday by administering polio drops to children at the Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Gandhinagar.
Rathore stated that the Pulse Polio Campaign was launched in India in 1995. Since January 2011, no new polio cases have been reported in the country for the past 13 years. In March 2014, India received its certification as a polio-free country. In view of this, the central government has organized the Sub-National Pulse Polio Campaign across the country. Under this campaign, approx 87.50 lakh children, from birth to the age of five, are being administered polio drops across 39 districts in Rajasthan.
To ensure the success of the campaign, 46,887 polio booths have been established, and 59,936 teams have been formed, including 5,396 transit teams and 7,653 mobile teams.
