6-year-old Chinu dies of kidney disease in Nahargarh Biological Park

Jaipur: A six-year-old white tiger named Chinu, died here at Nahargarh Biological Park after a brief illness, an official said on Sunday. The tiger, which was brought from Nandankanan Zoo in Odisha in March 17 last year, had stopped eating food about six days ago. Arvind Mathur, senior veterinary doctor said that Chinu was suffering from kidney ailment for some time. Chinu’s health improved on Saturday, deteriorated on Sunday.

In a sad news for wildlife enthusiasts, Chinu (6), the only white tiger in Rajasthan, died on Sunday. Chinu was undergoing treatment for the last one week under the supervision of the medical board. Chinu’s health improved on Saturday but deteriorated on Sunday. In the last 33 months, 10 big cats have died in Jaipur. Of these, three died of canine distemper (a disease caused by a virus that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems), one of cardiac arrest, three of leptospirosis and two of other diseases.
RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore has condoled the demise of the only white tiger of Rajasthan. He said the news of Chinu is heart wrenching. Off lately, the press note with reason of death was also issued by officials after the pressure of First India. It claimed heart attack as reason of death.
