5L trees to be planted in mining areas
Jaipur: Mines Secretary Anandi, during a meeting with senior officials of the department, emphasized on tree plantation in clusters during the monsoon.
About five lakh trees will be planted and priority will be given to trees that provide shade and bear fruits. The department officers, in coordination with the local administration and forest department, will procure saplings and get them planted.
Anandi said that according to a rough estimate, more than five lakh saplings will be planted in the mining sector this monsoon.
“One officer each in all departmental offices will be given the responsibility of overseeing the work, while at the headquarters level, Additional Director Environment and Development Deepak Tanwar will monitor it,” she said.
Anandi said that participation of mine owners will be ensured in the programme. In the mining lease areas of every district, where work has stopped, instructions have been given to identify one mine and carry out extensive tree plantation.
