10-yr-old Single Lease Case: Relief to Dhariwal, others

Jaipur: Rajasthan HC has allowed the withdrawal of a PIL filed by complainant seeking CBI inquiry in Ekal Patta case. Surendra Singh, son of the complainant who has died, had filed an application in this regard in HC. At the same time, the court also gave liberty to RTI activist Ashok Pathak, who had filed an application to become a party, to file a PIL seeking a fresh CBI probe.

UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal, former IAS officer GS Sandhu, and others including Onkar Mal Saini and Nishkam Diwakar were made accused in the case. The HC had earlier cancelled action of lower court against Dhariwal. Along with this, permission has been given to withdraw pending cases against three former officers. Ashok Pathak said that this is being done in collusion in case. He said that complainant Ram Sharan has fought the battle by filing petitions till the SC and his son has no right to withdraw the PIL.
