QUEEN LAID TO REST

Windsor: Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, has been laid to rest at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, bringing an end to days of public mourning. The Queen’s coffin was lowered into the royal vault next to her husband, Prince Philip, on Monday. The Queen’s parents and sister, Princess Margaret, also rest at this chapel in Windsor Castle. The burial service was an entirely private affair with only members of the Royal Family present at the Windsor Castle. The instruments of state with which she was crowned in 1953, the Imperial State Crown, orb and sceptre, were removed from the coffin and placed on the high altar.
