New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone on Wednesday after his victory in presidential election 3 days ago, and reiterated that the way forward in Russia-Ukraine conflict was with “dialogue and diplomacy”.

Modi also talked about deepening their “privileged partnership” and conveyed his best wishes “for peace, progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Russia,” PMO said. Duo reviewed progress in various issues of bilateral cooperation, and talked on global issues of mutual interest. Soon after, Modi also spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and extended India’s support to Ukraine, adding, Delhi would try to push for the peace amid Kyiv’s ongoing conflict with Russia.
