MILITARY DRILLS! ANGRY CHINA FIRES MISSILES NEAR TAIWAN

Beijing: Hours after China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) began its “largest-ever” military exercises including live firing on the waters and in the airspace surrounding the island of Taiwan, China said it conducted “precision missile strikes” in the Taiwan Strait on Thursday. The military exercises by China have raised tensions in region to their highest level in decades. Also, China’s military made multiple brief incursions of the median line dividing Taiwan Strait starting on Wednesday and continuing through Thursday, a source said. “Six major areas around island have been selected for this actual combat exercise & during this period, relevant ships and aircraft should not enter relevant waters and airspaces,” officials reported. 5 missiles fired by China landed in Japan’s economic zone, says Kyodo citing Japan foreign ministry official. US opposes any unilateral efforts to change Taiwan status quo especially by force, said US Secy of State Blinken.
