'Yaha toh hoga 400 paar': Gangster turned politician Anand Mohan votes in Bihar's Sheohar
Sheohar: Amid the ongoing polls at Bihar's Sheohar on Saturday, gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan said that while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance will win more than 400 seats in this election, the INDIA bloc will be moving away from Delhi.
"...'Yaha toh hoga 400 paar, vaha hoga Delhi paar'. We are in a comfortable position in Sheohar, results will be great," Mohan said speaking to reporters at Sheohar.
On the opposition's claim that the BJP will not win more than 40 seats in the Lok Sabha polls, Mohan said, "What more can they say? Do they have any issues to speak about? They are saying that reservations are going to change and they are saving the Constitution."
"Who should the people for Sheohar vote (if not us)? Should they vote for someone during whose rule murders used to take place, extremism, bribery and kidnapping were taking place?..." Mohan said speaking to ANI.
Anand Mohan Singh's wife Lovely Anand is contesting from the Sheohar Lok Sabha seat as a Janata Dal (United) candidate.
"The people of Sheohar should vote for us because we have an old relationship with them. The people of Sheohar made Anand Mohan the MP from here twice earlier and during that time a lot of development work had happened..." Lovely Anand said speaking to ANI.
Lovely Anand and her husband cast their vote at Sheohar on Saturday. Anand Mohan was convicted in the murder case of Gopalganj District Magistrate G Krishnaiah on December 5, 1994, in Muzaffarpur. Krishnaiah was killed by a mob allegedly provoked by Anand Mohan Singh.
He was serving a life sentence in the 1994 murder of then Gopalganj District Magistrate G Krishnaiah. After the Bihar government amended the rules of the jail manual, an official notification stated that 27 prisoners who have served 14 years or 20 years in jail have been ordered to be released. On April 25, the Bihar government issued a notification regarding the release of 27 prisoners including former Lok Sabha MP Anand Mohan Singh from jail.
Meanwhile, Hena Shahab, wife of Gangster-politician late Mohammad Shahabuddin, casts her vote at a polling station in Siwan. Hena Shahab is contesting as an Independent from Siwan.
"I appeal to everyone that this time you need a 'Sevak' not a politician. Everyone will accept me and this time I will get a chance...," Shahab said speaking to ANI. Heena Sahab is contesting as an independent candidate, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal has fielded Awadh Bihari Choudhary, and the Janata Dal-United has fielded Vijaylakshmi Devi from Siwan.
